Class VI Partners (“Class VI”) is pleased to announce the acquisition of Alpine Lumber Company (“Alpine” or the “Company”) by Builders FirstSource, Inc. (NYSE: BLDR) (“Builders FirstSource”). Class VI served as the exclusive financial advisor to Alpine.
“We are grateful to have had the opportunity to help Alpine in this most recent chapter of the Alpine story. Hamid and Alpine’s management team have helped grow one of the most successful businesses in the building products sector by focusing on Alpine’s team and its customers. In addition, Alpine is one of the most successful ESOP stories we have seen—the customer-first culture Alpine’s entire employee base built and nurtured burnished Alpine’s reputation as one of the best in the industry,” said Chris Younger, Class VI CEO.
“I am incredibly proud of the business we built over the last 60+ years and excited for our next phase of growth with Builders FirstSource. The Class VI team’s ability to quickly understand our industry and illustrate the uniqueness of our Company ensured we found the best long-term partner for Alpine, our legacy, and our employees. Class VI was responsive, proactive, and worked tirelessly to close this deal. Selling a business is a major undertaking and it is essential to have an investment banking partner who keeps your best interest at the heart of a deal—if you are a business owner considering a potential transaction, I would highly recommend you meet with Class VI,” said Hamid Taha, Chief Executive Officer of Alpine.
“This transaction represents a very exciting and rewarding milestone for the hundreds of employee owners of Alpine Lumber Company. It was a great honor to represent Alpine throughout this process and help find a partner who will support the Company in its next phase of growth,” said Alex Woolford, Class VI Vice President. “Alpine’s growth over the last 60+ years is a testament to the Company’s commitment to its employees and the Mountain West communities. We are excited that Alpine found a great partner in Builders FirstSource to build on the Alpine legacy,” added Matthew Petterson, Class VI Vice President.
Founded in Englewood, Colorado, by the Kurtz family in 1963 and subsequently converted to a 100% employee-owned and operated company, Alpine has 21 locations serving homebuilders and contractors in the Front Range of Colorado, western Colorado, and northern New Mexico, with a broad product range including prefabricated trusses and wall panels and millwork.
